Tips for admission

The SMA Admission Committee is in charge of selecting candidates for possible consideration and eventual admission to the M.Sc Program. Usually the Commmittee review the CV and the transcript of records (ToR) and looks for the number of exams, credits and scores for courses like those in the following list:

  • probability
  • statistics (descriptive and inferential)
  • estimation methods
  • hypothesis testing
  • regression methods
  • sampling theory
  • econometrics
  • stochastic models
  • time series analysis
  • economic statistics
  • demography
  • applied statistics
  • statistical software (R, SAS, SPSS, Stata ....)

Candidates with less than 12 credits of similar exams are usually less likely to be considered for the admission.

The Committee also looks for candidates' past applied statistical experience and motivations related to the specific statistical tools which the candidate is eager to acquire and develop further during the Master program.
